About This Site
Top Drone Accessories covers the gear that sits around a consumer camera drone: landing pads for rough ground, hard cases for the truck and the airport, anti-collision strobes for twilight flights, tablet holders for the controller, and ND and polarizer filters for smoother video. Every guide is written from real weekend flying, with the annoying parts left in.

Flight Safety
Drones are aircraft and the rules that apply to them are set by your national aviation authority. In the United States that is the FAA: recreational pilots must pass the free TRUST test, keep the drone within visual line of sight, stay at or below 400 feet, give way to crewed aircraft, and check airspace before flying near airports, stadiums, wildfires or emergency scenes. Night and twilight flying requires anti-collision lighting visible for three statute miles. Check the current rules for your location before every flight; nothing on this site replaces them.
Spinning propellers cut skin. Keep hands, hair, pets and bystanders clear during takeoff and landing, and never catch a drone by hand. Lithium polymer batteries can swell, overheat or catch fire if punctured, crushed, overcharged or left in a hot vehicle: charge on a non-flammable surface you can watch, stop using any swollen pack, and follow airline rules for carrying spares in cabin baggage. Accessories add weight and can change how a drone balances and handles, so test any new mount, light or filter with a short low hover before a full flight, and watch for gimbal or compass warnings.
